Food Allergy awareness

At 18 months old David was diagnosed with a food allergy. He is allergic to peanuts and tree nuts. This news certainly came as a big surprise and we now adjust how we live around this. This is a life threatening allergy that needs more awareness. I just came across this new documentary about food allergies. It was very helpful to watch. Pass it on so more people can become aware and help protect our little ones.

All things new...

A new year means a new blog post! I think it has been over a year since I last posted and there is no guarantee that it won't be another year before another one is posted:-)

This past year we welcomed our second baby boy, Isaac James. He adds so much joy to our family with his sweet personality and stunning smile. Here are a few photos to bring you up to date...

Catch Up

We took a special trip to visit family. Here David is meeting his great grandpa for the first time.

Enjoying a beautiful day. Here he comes....

He's getting closer

There he is....my handsome little boy!

Our first snow fall. David loved being pulled on the sled and kept asking for more!

As always, we have been busy enjoying this time of year with little David and family close by.

Dress up

Underneath David's crib, I keep a few boxes of clothes that he has outgrown. The other day he found them and decided to try and get himself dressed. It was so funny to watch! He was so focused and serious about the task at hand. I stood at a distance and tried to capture a few pictures:-)

Fall Fun

This last week we have enjoyed some nice weather before the rain and cold quickly change that. Yesterday we even got to wear shorts and a t-shirt. I can guarantee those days are over for a while. David is growing and loving life. Our little boy is getting so big!

My little fighter

The hose became his favorite outdoor activity before it got too cold

Our fall got off to a bit of a rough start. Our little guy seemed to face one challenge after another. At the end of August during our trip to the Adirondacks he experienced some difficulty breathing with a lot of wheezing symptoms. The doctor diagnosed it as croup. It seemed to come and go although not as severely for the next several weeks. He then became very sick and was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection. In the midst of this he had an allergic reaction to Peanut Butter. After taking him to an allergy specialist we found out that he is indeed allergic to peanuts and tree nuts! Just as he was on the mend we experienced a scare on the playground last week. David's leg bent back on the slide and he couldn't walk. Thinking he may have broken something, we took him to Emergent Care and thankfully X-'s rays showed no break. It was only a sprain and miraculously he was completely healed within 2 days. Through all of this my little man has been cutting his 4 "I" teeth (ouch). What a fighter he is! Now we are just all trying to catch up on our rest. Praise God that he gently takes care of his children through the un-knowns and gives us peace in the midst of chaos.

Last of summer...

My little buddy

Lots of laughs in the tunnel

This was on our trip to Old Forge

He was surprised to slide into some mud at the bottom of this slide

It's officially September! Hard to believe the summer is winding down. Just today I saw Christmas decorations out. We are still enjoying our last summer days in this warm weather. One of the things David loves to do is go to the playground. Last year at this time David wasn't able to play on a playground, but he is a big boy this year and loves to climb, slide, hang, and jump. We will be enjoying as many more trips to the playground as we can fit in before fall and winter are upon us.
